What is a preposition?
To teach you what it is, is our mission
Up, down, over, around
All of those prepositions are very renowned
If you want to know the preposition
Listen to us now
A preposition explains the position of an adjective or verb
Like how a cat could walk around a nice, cement curb
You can jump over, crawl under, or run around a log
Or squeeze into the log, just like a dog
Stand on it, lay under it, go beneath it
Maybe you can run to it, and then you can sit
But don’t forget about the prepositional phrase
There are two kinds of phrases, but don’t get in a craze
Adjective and adverb are the two ways
Once you learn them, you’ll be one to amaze
Adjective phrases tell “Which One, how many, or what type?”
Adverb phrases tell “How, when, to what extent, or where”
‘She watched the monkeys in the sun’
‘We went over there’
So now you know the basics of prepositions
And you can write, now that you’ve learned those definitions!

Prepositions
A preposition is a part of speech that shows the relationship between a noun and a pronoun with some other kind of word. Prepositions are words like after, around, behind, on, or off. There are also words such as acording to, because of, and instead of. There are three different kinds of prepositions: time prepositions, like during or while; place prepositions like in, on or at; and direction prepositions like over and under. A preposition also introduces the beginning of a prepositional phrase. A thing you can use to help remember prepositions is: The worm was in the log, the worm was on the log, the worm was behind the log, or the worm was around the log.
